CHCM Moves into New Offices
Renovations at CHIP (Ryan Building) were completed this summer and CHCM moved into a beautiful new suite of offices on the second floor. In addition to existing CHIP facilities and meeting spaces on the first floor, CHCM now has use of a new conference room, focus group room, several interview rooms, a copier room, and offices for the Director, Program Assistant, Researchers and Graduate Students.

This project is a collaborative effort between an experienced team at the community-based Institute for Community Research (ICR) located in Hartford, CT, and investigators at the Center for Health Communication & Marketing, UConn. The study uses critical components of urban youth culture to deliver the drug prevention messages by demonstrating the fun in attending substance-free events, promoting and supporting substance-free group norms, and providing an opportunity for local celebrities to endorse substance free choices.

First Meeting of the External Advisory Board

The first meeting of the External Advisory Board of Professionals (EAB) was held on September 27th in the School of Business Board Room. EAB members decided to meet quarterly in the future rather than annually as was originally planned.
Welcome Luncheon & Meeting of CHCM's Research Affiliates

On September 13th, CHCM hosted a welcome luncheon to introduce the Center and meet with research affiliates. The luncheon meeting was held in the South Campus Complex's Rome Ballroom.

Article appeared as the lead story on the front page of the Hartford Courant, Tuesday, January 3, 2006 (Vol CLXX, No 3).
CHCM Director Leslie Snyder was lead author on the study. "Snyder's study is the first national, long-term look at how media advertising influences drinking among young people." Read article ![]()
